Barminski Competing for National Team
STANFORD, Calif. – No stranger to call ups from the national team, Stanford assistant field hockey coach Michael Barminski earned a selection to the United States National team for a four-game stretch in Germany and Belgium.
"It's been 22 months since the team has gotten together due to Covid, so it's the first time the team has gotten together in a while," said Barminski. "We're not focused on results here in Germany and Belgium. We are more concerned with the process and looking forward to the Pan Am Cup next year in January in Santiago, Chile. It's a FIH World Cup qualifying event and our performance there is most paramount."
Barminski and the United States are playing two games apiece against the Germany and Belgium under-21 teams, and are halfway through the set. The American squad earned a 1-1 tie in the opening bout before falling to Germany in game two, 5-2, on Friday.
The United States will face Belgium on Saturday and Sunday to close out the trip. Barminski entered the week with 91 career appearances for the USA.
