Oct 15, 2021

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Utah women's tennis player Linda Huang's run at the ITA Mountain Regional continued on Friday in the quarterfinals. She was looking to get a Ute to the semifinals of the ITA Mountain Regional for the second straight season.

The 3rd-seeded Huang matched up with Nevada's Anastasia Luneva in the quarterfinals. Huang fell behind early as she dropped set one, 6-2, to Luneva. However, Huang responded in the second and third sets. Huang came back and won the second set 6-1 before taking the third set 6-0 to win the match.

This is the second straight season; the Utes have had a player advance to the semifinals of the ITA Mountain Regionals. Madison Tattini was the last Ute to make the semifinals. Huang is looking to become the first ITA Regional Finalist for Utah since 2014, when Tereza Bekerova advanced to the finals.

The regional doubles champion and the regional singles champion and finalists qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships, from November 4-7 in San Diego, California.

The semifinals are set for Saturday, with the finals on Sunday. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
