Huang Run Ends at ITA Regional
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Utah women's tennis player Linda Huang's run at the ITA Mountain Regional ended on Saturday as she was defeated in the event's semifinals.
"I am proud of Linda for her run this week, and I still believe that her best tennis is ahead for her," remarked head coach Ric Mortera. "We look forward to continuing to focus on building off of this week and making the necessary adjustments."
She became the second Ute to advance to the semifinals since 2019. The last was Madison Tattini, who also was defeated in the semifinals. The ITA Regionals did not take place in 2020 because of the COVID pandemic.
Huang matched up with Anna Riedmiller of Denver in the semifinals, and the first set could have gone either way. Riedmiller pulled out a 7-6 win in the first set. Huang needed to win the second set but was defeated 6-0.
Utah returns to action on November 12 when they head to the Sand Diego Fall Classic or the UNLV Fall Classic.
