Chaudhary, Kopczynski Win at ITA Regionals

MORAGA, Calif.  – Raising both trophies at the ITA Northwest Regional Championship, Stanford's Aryan Chaudhary won the singles bracket while the pair of Chaudhary and Tomas Kopczynski were victorious in the doubles competition.

Chaudhary went a perfect 5-0 to advance through the bracket, including a pair of three-set wins in the quarterfinal and the semifinal rounds. The sophomore earned the title with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the championship over Santa Clara's Guillaume Dalmasso.

Chaudhary and Kopczynski saw similar success in doubles, going 4-0 in the tournament. Needing to win via a tiebreaker in the quarterfinal, the tandem rattled off straight set wins in the final two rounds to claim the title.

Kopczynski went 3-1 in singles action, reaching the semifinals as the event's 14th-seeded player. After a straight-set win in the opener, the senior won two battles in a row in three sets before dropping a three-set match to close his afternoon.

Alex Lee picked up an opening round win in singles play, while Anders Matta and Dean Stratakos each went winless in a pair of competitive matches apiece. Stratakos and Matta also teamed up in doubles, but fell in the round of 32.

Stanford returns to action at the ITA Super Regionals from Oct. 22-25 in Seattle, Washington.
