Oregon State Falls to No. 10 Washington

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State volleyball (3-15, 1-7 Pac-12) gave No. 10 Washington (13-3, 6-2 Pac-12) a run in the first set but weren't able to keep the momentum going as the Huskies defeated the Beavers in three sets (19-25, 15-25, 14-25).
 
The Beavers battled through the first set tying the Huskies on multiple occasions early in the set. Oregon State was able to hang close through the first set behind the strong performance of Lindsey Schell and Kateryna Tkachenko each picking up four kills to lead OSU. OSU hit .297 in the first set but wasn't able to maintain that through the rest of the match.
 
On the day, senior Maddie Goings led OSU with 12 kills off 29 attacks and finished with five digs. Schell followed with 10 kills and led the team with three blocks (one solo, two assists). Vivian Light and Tkachenko added six kills apiece, while Izzi Szulczewski added four kills, 32 assists and five digs. Grace Massey led OSU with seven digs, and Ellie Turner added six.
 
Washington was led offensively by Claire Hoffman who finished with 13 kills, four digs, four blocks and one ace. As a team, the Huskies hit .512 with 48 kills. UW also finished with 11 team blocks behind a seven-block performance from Lauren Sanders.
 
UP NEXT
The Beavers are back on the road next week traveling Los Angeles to take on USC and UCLA. Oregon State will matchup against USC on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. on the Pac-12 Networks, before concluding weekend action at UCLA on Sunday, Oct. 24 at noon.
