Three Bears Named To U.S. National Junior Team

Dare Rose earned his fourth selection to USA Swimming's National Junior Team.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A trio of California men's swimmers earned spots on the 2021-22 U.S. National Junior Team, announced Monday by USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport.
 
Sophomore Dare Rose was joined by freshmen Jack Alexy and Gabriel Jett on the U.S. National Junior Team. Both Alexy and Jett qualified in two events. Alexy – a three-time U.S. National Junior Team selection – held the fastest time in the 100-meter freestyle (48.69) and the second-fastest in the 50m free (22.47), both accomplished at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. Jett earned his first spot on the U.S. National Junior Team by swimming the fastest 200m free (1:48.85) and second-fastest 200m butterfly (1:57.82).
 
Rose – who was named to his fourth consecutive national junior team roster – swam the third-fastest time in the 200-meter freestyle (1:49.20) at the 2021 Speedo Summer Championships West.

To qualify for selection to the U.S. National Junior Team, athletes must be eligible to represent the U.S. in international competition as of Sept. 1, 2021 and be 18 years or younger on Sept. 1, 2021.
 

  • Jack Alexy (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) – 3rd selection
  • Gabriel Jett (200 freestyle, 200 butterfly) – 1st selection
  • Dare Rose (200 freestyle) – 4th selection
