Soccer Welcomes Oregon State and Oregon to Ute Field

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah women's soccer team continues its homestand on Thursday and Sunday when the Utes welcome Oregon State and Oregon to Ute Field. Utah will square off with Oregon State on Thursday at 7 p.m. MT and Oregon on Sunday at 12 p.m. MT.

Last Time Out
The Utes took to the field last Friday when Utah opened up a three-game homestand. The Utes hosted California and dropped the match 1-0. Utah controlled possession for over 55 percent of the game and had three shots on goal. Eden Jacobsen had a quality scoring chance as she had a save go off the crossbar in the 67' minute of the match. 
Scouting Oregon State
Oregon State enters this weekend's matchup with the Utes with an 11-3-0 record and a mark of 3-3-0 in the Pac-12 play. The Beavers come into the weekend ranking 22 in the latest RPI rankings. Oregon State is coming off a 4-1 loss to UCLA in the last game played. The Beavers have scored 30 goals on the season and have allowed 16 goals. Oregon State is getting outshot, 11.4-11.2, on the season. McKenna Martinez leads the team with seven goals scored. She also leads the team in points with 18. Amber Jackson follows with five goals and three assists for 13 points. The Beavers have four players with three or more goals this season. Martinez and Jackson each have three winning goals. Bridgette Skiba leads the team in net as she has 58 saves and a goal-against-average of 1.13.  
About Oregon
Oregon enters the weekend with Utah with a record of 8-2-4 on the season and 3-2-1 in Pac-12 play. The Ducks are coming off a 3-1 loss to No. 5 USC. The loss snapped a two-match winning streak for Oregon. Oregon is 3-1-3 in road games this season. This season, Oregon has scored 24 goals on the season, averaging 1.71 goals per game, while allowing only 13 goals for an 0.93 goal per game average. Ally Cook leads the team with six goals on the season and 14 points. She also has two assists. Four Ducks have three or more goals on the season. Zoe Hasenauer is second on the team with four goals. In net, Leah Freeman leads the Ducks. She has 50 saves and only allowed eight goals this season. Her goal-against-average is 0.69, the third-best mark in the Pac-12 and 35th best nationally. 
Last Year Against Oregon State
Last season, the Utes traveled to Corvallis, Oregon, and took on the Beavers. Oregon State came away with a 3-1 over the Utes. Eden Jacobsen scored the lone goal for the Utes in the match in the 84' minute. Utah outshot the Beavers 23-12 in the game and had a 6-4 advantage with shots on goal. 
Last Year Against Oregon
Last season, the Utes traveled to Eugene, Oregon, to take on the Ducks. Oregon scored the match's first goal, but Ali Schinko tied the game in the 76' minute of the game and forced overtime. Neither team scored in overtime, and the Ducks and Utes would play to a tie. Oregon outshot Utah, 18-14 and 7-4 with shots on goal in the match. 
All-Time Against Oregon State
The Utes are 6-5-1 all-time against the Beavers of Oregon State. The Utes are 4-1-1 when playing Oregon State in Salt Lake City. Over the last three matches, Utah is 1-1-1 against the Beavers. Utah won four straight against the Beavers from 2013 to 2016. 
All-Time Against Oregon 
The Utes have had success against the Ducks all-time when playing in Salt Lake City. Utah is 7-0-0 when playing Oregon in Salt Lake City. The Utes are 10-4-2 all-time against the Ducks. Utah is 1-1-1 against Oregon in the last three games and won back-to-back matches against the Ducks during the 2015 and 2016 seasons. 
Utes Program Looking for Win 275
The Utes soccer program continues to pick up wins and looking for their 275th win in program history. They currently have 274 wins. The program's 250th win came during the 2018 season with a 3-0 victory over Utah State.
Kaufusi and Talbot Leading the Way
This season, Taliana Kaufusi and Courtney Talbot are leading the team in scoring with four goals each. Either Kaufusi or Talbot has scored seven of the last nine goals for Utah dating back to September 2. The last time another player scored for Utah was on September 12, when Brooklyn James and Makayla Christensen scored against Dixie State. 
Talbot Continues to Shine
Junior captain Courtney Talbot continues to shine on the field this season for the Utes. She has set career-highs in goals (4) and points (9). Her fourth goal of the season came in the 41' minute against then-No. 3 UCLA. Talbot is one of two players with four goals on the season for Utah. Her nine points lead the team. 
Matches Against Ranked Teams 
Utah played its fourth match against a ranked opponent this season on Sunday, October 10, at USC. Utah is 0-2-2 in games against nationally-ranked teams. Utah came away with a tie-over then-No. 3 UCLA on October 7. The other tie for Utah this season came against No. 22 Brigham Young. Thursday's matchup matches receiving votes Oregon State verse Utah. 
Next Up
Following hosting Oregon State and Oregon this weekend, the Utes head south. They will face Arizona and Arizona State next Thursday and Sunday. Utah will face Arizona on Thursday night before playing at Arizona State on Sunday afternoon.
