TEMPE -- After a two-week hiatus from an already busy fall season, the Sun Devils are San Diego bound this week for the ITA Regional Championships, hosted at the University of San Diego from October 21-25.
Seven Sun Devils will be competing at the event, which will feature some of the top collegiate talent from the Southwest region.
Sedona Gallagher, Cali Jankowski, Giulia Morlet, Marianna Argyrokastriti, Domenika Turkovic and Patricija Spaka will participate in both singles and doubles play, while Natasha Hill will compete in singles only.
The tandems of Gallagher and Morlet and Jankowski and Spaka will open the tournament with doubles play beginning Thursday morning at 8:30. All seven Sun Devils will play a singles match later in the morning, with the round of 32 slated for the afternoon.
It'll be the first fall action since early October for five Sun Devils, serving as another great opportunity for head coach Sheila McInerney to evaluate where her team is at. Spaka and Gallagher are two weeks removed from their last competition, in which they both netted top-50 wins while at the ITA All-American Championship in South Carolina.
The regional tournament will allow doubles and singles champions, plus finalists for each, to clinch a spot at the season-ending ITA National Fall Championships, held in early November at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.
