Eight USC Men’s Tennis Players Bound for ITA Southwest Regional Championships

Oct 21, 2021

Eight members of the USC men's tennis team will be making moves in Malibu this weekend, with the ITA Southwest Regional Championships running Oct. 22-25 at Pepperdine. The Trojans will be looking to make some deep runs at the event, which was not held last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It's a chance for USC junior Stefan Dostanic to improve on the efforts he put forth at the event as a freshman in 2019. He reached the singles final and the doubles semifinals that year. This time around, Dostanic is the No. 3 seed in the singles draw and is paired with Samuel Rubell as the No. 3 seeded team in the doubles draw.

It will be the first-ever ITA Southwest Regional appearance for five Trojans — freshman Peter Makk, sophomores Sean Holt and Lodewijk Weststrate and transfers Rubell and Paul Barretto. Juniors Dostanic and Ryder Jackson and senior Bradley Frye all competed in the 2019 event. In singles that year, Jackson reached the Round of 32 as a freshman, and a sophomore Frye reached the singles quarterfinals as well as the doubles semis alongside Dostanic. This time around, Frye is paired with Makk as the No. 2 seeded doubles duo in that draw.

Below are the USC matchups for the opening rounds, which begin Friday (Oct. 22). Complete schedule and draws can be reached through the TOURNAMENT CENTRAL PAGE.
