Oct 22, 2021
Gavin Aurilia fired a 2-under 70 on Friday.

Freshman Gavin Aurilia fired a 2-under 70 while junior Tyler Guo carded a season-best 1-under 71 to lead the 2021-22 USC men's golf  to an under par round to open the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate on Friday (Oct. 22) at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta.

USC, a two-time winner of the event, is in ninth after 18 holes at 1-under 287. Pepperdine and Texas A&M are tied for first at 13-under 275.

Aurilia secured his third round under par this season with his 70, good for a tie for 14th. He was 1-over thru seven holes on the back 9 start but he finished the final 10 holes at 3-under with three birdies.

Guo, in just his second tournament this season, is in a tie for 26th after his 1-under effort. He was 1-over going out and, like Aurilia, came in at 2-under thanks to birdies on 8 and 9.

Freshman Jackson Rivera and senior transfer Alex Ross are tied for 36th at 1-over. Ross turned at 3-over after a double on 18, but played a clean final  nine holes with birdies on 2 and 5. Rivera, USC's top finisher in the first three events this fall, had two birdies today.

Senior transfer Jack Boulger rounded out USC's efforts at 3-over, tied for 55th. He birdied 7 and 9 to close his round, his first birdies of the day.

USC will tee off in the second round on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. ET.
