Solid Trojan Tennis Contingent Advances In ITA Men's Southwest Regional Championship Action

MALIBU, CALIF. — The USC men's tennis team had a successful first day of action at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships in Malibu, Calif., starting with a clean sweep of doubles wins to open the day. All three USC doubles duos collected two wins to advance to tomorrow's Round of 16, and then five Trojans had winning days in singles to go on to the Round of 32. 

It was a busy day for USC newcomers Paul Barretto, Peter Makk and Samuel Rubell in their debuts at the ITA Southwest Regional. Transfers Barretto and Rubell and true freshman Peter Makk all collected doubles wins with their respective Trojan teammates in the morning, and then went on to snag singles victories as well. Makk and Rubell both are through to the singles Round 32 after two wins today.

That gives USC a slate of five Trojans moving on to tomorrow's Round of 32, with Rubella and Makk joined by relative veterans Bradley Frye, Stefan Dostanic and Lodewijk Weststrate following up Round of 64 wins today with spots in the next round.
