Arizona Soccer Falls to No. 13 Stanford

Oct 24, 2021

STANFORD, Calif. -- The Arizona Wildcats (3-12-0, 0-8-0) fell to Stanford (12-3-1, 6-1-1) 4-0 on a rainy afternoon in Palo Alto, Calif., on Sunday.

The Cardinal raced out to an early lead, striking twice in the first thirty minutes and three times in the first half, taking a commanding lead into the break. In the second half, the Wildcat defense responded and allowed just one more goal to13th-ranked Stanford.

Arizona nearly got a goal back late in the match following a fantastic save from Hisey on a Stanford PK but a laser from Nicole Dallin was saved by the Stanford keeper. Dallin had another opportunity just minutes later in the 89th minute but this time her strike ricocheted off the crossbar and out of bounds.

Stanford's defense had primary control, never allowing the Cats to get comfortable. Additionally, the Cardinal was able to hold the match offensively, outshooting the Cats. Keeper Hope Hisey notched 10 saves for her fourth double-digit save effort of the season.
