Freshman Jackson Rivera Posts Third Top 18 This Season

Jackson Rivera carded a 2-under 70 on Sunday to secure a tie for 16th in Georgia.

Jackson Rivera posted his second straight round under par and his third in has last four while Gavin Aurilia was also under par, the freshman duo pacing the USC men's golf team in the final round of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate on Sunday (Oct. 24) at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta.

USC finished 14th at 6-over 870 (287-294-289). Pepperdine won the tournament at 42-under 822.

Rivera tied for 16th at 5-under 211 (73-68-70), completing his fourth straight tournament as USC's top finisher with his third top 18 result (and fourth in the top 28).

He went out at 2-under on the back 9 start, got to 3-under briefly, and used a birdie on 9 to secure a 70. He has a team-best five rounds under par this season and leads the squad with a stroke average of 71.58.

Aurilia tied for a season-best 29th at 1-under 215 (70-73-72), finishing with his fifth round of par or better today, second best on the squad. He birdied five times today, including on his final two holes to post a par effort.

Senior Alex Ross tied for 62nd at 6-over 222 (73-76-73), junior Tyler Guo tied for 66th at 7-over 223 (71-78-74) and senior Jack Boulger tied for 74th at 16-over 232 (75-77-80).

The Trojans are off until the spring semester when they resume the season at the Southwestern Invitational, Jan. 24-26, at the North Ranch C.C. in Westlake Village.
