Chidekh Drops Three Set Final At Super Regionals

Oct 25, 2021

SEATTLE -- Junior Clement Chidekh came up one set short of his quest for the ITA Northwest Super Reigonal singles title today at the Nordstrom Tennis Center, dropping his match to top-seeded Arthur Fery of Stanford.

Chidekh was the first Husky in the finals of Regionals since Mitch Stewart in 2015, but was unable to collect the first singles championship for the Dawgs since Matt Hanlin in 2002. The Lyon, France native took the first set impressively, 6-3, but got broken to start the second set and Fery, ranked 48th nationally, came back to win the second set, 6-3, and win the last four games for a 6-1 third set win.

In spite of the loss, Chidekh will qualify and compete next at the ITA Fall National Championships, the second of three national individual tournaments for the academic year. Chidekh has a semifinal run at the first, the ITA All-American Championships, and the finals run at Super Regionals for his two tourneys this season.
