EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon sophomore guard Sydney Parrish was one of 20 players named to the preseason watch list for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award honoring the nation's top shooting guard.
As a freshman in 2020-21, Parrish appeared in 23 games, averaging 6.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 33.3 percent from three-point range. She reached double figures in scoring five times, highlighted by a season-high 18 points at Washington on Dec. 19 to earn Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors.
The Fishers, Ind. native also finished second on the team shooting 89.7 percent from the free throw line and 33.6 percent from the floor. She hit at least three field goals from beyond the arc four times, led by a pair of outings with four made shots from downtown against Washington (4-for-8) and USC (4-for-6).
Parrish is the second Oregon player to be named to a watch list for one of the Naismith Starting 5 awards, joining Te-Hina Paopao who was selected to the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list on Monday. A midseason watch list of 10 players will be released in February, while the five finalists for the award will be selected in March ahead of the award presentation at the end of the season.
