UW Set For Final Pac-12 Road Trip

Oct 26, 2021

SEATTLE – Washington heads to the Oregon schools this weekend for the final road trip of the regular season. The Huskies (4-7-4, 2-3-3) will face Oregon State (11-5-0, 3-5-0) in Corvallis on Thursday at 2:00 p.m., and the match will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.

UW is coming off a hard-fought 2-2 draw with No. 5 USC on Senior Day at Husky Soccer Stadium. Twice in the contest Washington came back from a goal deficit to equalize. Kyla Ferry scored her first goal off the year in the first half and McKenzie Weinert equalized in the second half, for her second goal of the season.

Summer Yates assisted on both goals in the match, for her 11th point of the fall and her 53rd overall, which puts her in a tie for ninth place in program history. Yates' shot on goal percentage of .622 is the highest in the conference of any player with more than 15 shots on goal. In eight conference matches, Yates is averaging 1.13 points per game, tied for 8th in the Pac-12. Yates is also fifth in SOG per game at 1.75 in Pac-12 play.

The Huskies and Beavers will be facing off for the 31st time, with UW on a four-game unbeaten streak and leading the overall series 19-7-4. Most recently, Washington won 2-0 in Seattle this April.

Against No. 8 UCLA on Thursday, Olivia Van der Jagt scored the lone goal for the Huskies, finding the back of the net in the 75th minute on an assist from MaKayla Woods. It was Van der Jagt's second goal of the season, with both coming in back-to-back matches. Van der Jagt played in her 85th career game on Sunday, which is second all-time in program history. Kate Deines holds the current record at 86 games played.

So far in the fall 2021 campaign, the Huskies have had eleven different goal scorers, with nine players recording assists.

Olivia Sekany holds a .727 save percentage in conference play and a 1.50 goals against average. She has recorded 54 saves so far, an average of 3.60 per game. Her third shutout of the season and 11th of her UW career came against Cal, as she recorded three saves in that contest.

Summer Yates has been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. Yates was also recently named to Top Drawer Soccer's Midseason Top 100 list.

The Huskies will face Oregon on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the final Pac-12 road contest of the season.
