SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Fifth-year senior Sam Thomas continues to etch her name into Wildcat lore as she was named to the 2021-22 Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Watchlist, the Basketball Hall of Fame and WBCA announced on Wednesday morning.
The native of Las Vegas, Nev., has been a key piece in the Wildcat's surge to national contenders as she has started all 125 games of her career. Thomas has left her fingerprints all over the Arizona record book as she currently stands second all-time in games started and needs just one more game to tie Davellyn White for most games played in the Red and Blue. She also sits in second all-time with 4,230 total minutes played.
Along with her consistency, Thomas also counts herself among Arizona's 1,000-point scorers as she has scored 1,135 points for her career, good for 19th all-time, while sitting at sixth in the Wildcat record books with 171 three-point field goals made.
In total, 20 student-athletes were named to the watchlist with list being narrowed down to 10 and then just five in late February. Fans are encouraged to vote beginning Oct. 29th at www.hoophallawards.com.
Thomas and the Wildcats return to McKale Center for an exhibition game against Eastern New Mexico tomorrow, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. (MST). Fans can purchase tickets here.
