Spitz, Paltrinieri Lead Bruins on Day Two at Nanea

Emilie Paltrinieri shot her lowest round of golf this season with a 1-under 72.

KAILUA KONA, Hawaii – The No. 10 UCLA women's golf team rose four places on day two of the Nanea Pac-12 Preview to tie for fifth place on the team leaderboard at 10-over 594 with No. 5 Oregon. The Bruins had two under-par performances from juniors Emma Spitz and Emilie Paltrinieri to lead the team as UCLA shot a collective 1-over 293.
 
Spitz, herself, climbed five spots on the individual leaderboard to fourth place with her fourth consecutive under-par round of 3-under 70. Spitz, who shot a 1-under 72 on day one, birdied five total times in her second round, including four birdies on the front nine. Her stars came on the par-4 1st, par-4 2nd, par-4 5th, par-5 6th and par-4 10th.
 
To par, Spitz is 4-under 142.
 
Paltrinieri was the other Bruin to finish under par with three birdies on the par-4 5th, par-5 13th and par-5 18th for a round total of 1-under 72. She rose 21 places individually, tied for 17th.
 
Freshman Caroline Canales recorded a score of 2-over 75 in round two and moved into tied for 31st. Canales birdied the par-5 4th, pa-4 16th and par-5 18th.
 
Freshman Zoe Antoinette Campos rounded out UCLA's scorers after a 5-over 78 performance on day two, tied for 37th. Junior Annabel Wilson placed fifth for the Bruins, shooting a 3-over 76. Wilson birdied twice on the par-5 4th and par-4 14th.
 
UCLA will look to make another surge as it competes in the final round of the Nanea Pac-12 Preview tomorrow morning at 11:30 a.m. PT.
