Three Beavers Earn Pac-12 Preseason Recognition

Nov 3, 2021

CORVALLIS – Three Oregon State women's basketball players have earned Preseason All-Pac-12 recognition, the conference office announced Wednesday.

Taylor Jones and Talia von Oelhoffen were both selected to the Pac-12 Preseason Team, while Kennedy Brown was named a Preseason Honorable Mention.

Jones was an All-Pac-12 honoree last season, and was a Pac-12 Defensive honorable mention for the second-straight year. She averaged 12.3 points and a conference-leading 8.8 rebounds per game in 2020-21. Jones shot 55.6 percent from the floor, the second-best clip in the conference.

As a sophomore last year, Jones was third in the Pac-12 in blocks per games at 1.8 per game. She has 16 career double-doubles, and recorded 94 rebounds over the Beavers' final nine games of the season. Heading into the upcoming season, Jones is 15th among active players in career field goal percentage.

Von Oelhoffen joined the Beavers mid-way through the 2020-21 campaign and made an immediate impact. She averaged 11.3 points and three assists per game during her 13 games with the team, shooting 44 percent from the floor.

The guard made an impressive impact in the Pac-12 Tournament, scoring 20 points against California in the opening round followed by 19 vs. Oregon in the quarterfinals. Overall, von Oelhoffen ended up recording the most points for a player off the bench in Pac-12 Tournament history.

Brown missed part of her freshman season and all of last season as she recovered from injury. The forward finished fourth on Oregon State's freshman blocks list in 2019-20, despite playing only 23 games on the year prior to suffering an ACL injury. The Derby, Kansas native averaged 6.3 points and 7.3 rebound per contest in her freshman campaign, and scored in double-figures four times that year.

As a team, Oregon State is ranked No. 14 in the Associated Press Poll, marking the fourth time it has opened a year in the top-15.

The Beavers are slated to begin the 2021-22 season on Nov. 12 when Loyola Marymount visits Gill Coliseum. OSU will also host an exhibition Nov. 6 against Western Washington.
