KAILUA-KONA, Hawai'i – Senior Yu-Sang Hou and freshman Carolina Melgrati shot 1-under par in the final round of the Pac-12 Preview as the Wildcats finished the tournament in third place at 4-over par. Junior Gile Bite Starkute finished the event in ninth place with Arizona's lowest tournament score at 1-under par.
"I am proud to see our team finish in the top three of this tournament and only one stroke behind second," said head coach Laura Ianello. "We ended our week with four players in the top 20 of the leaderboards and continued to improve as the week went on. This was a great way to end our fall schedule with some momentum as we continue to prepare for our spring."
The third-place finish this week marked the program's third consecutive top-three finish at the Pac-12's marquee Fall tournament.
Starkute's ninth-place showing was the highest of her career since finishing in third in the Wildcat Invitational during the 2019-20 season. Hou's 1-over final score put her in a tie for tenth, giving the fifth-year senior the 15th top-10 finish of her career. By finishing in 13th place, Melgrati has now finished in the top 15 of all three fall events she has played in to start her career.
The Pac-12 Preview was Arizona's fourth and final tournament of the fall. The program will resume its 2021-22 schedule with the Superstition Challenge in the third week of January in Gold Canyon, Arizona.
