Bears Close Fall Half Of Season In Tempe
TEMPE, Ariz. – California women's tennis won both of its matches on the last day of the ASU Thunderbird Invitational on Sunday, with Makenna Thiel and Hannah Viller Moeller prevailing in singles at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
Viller Moeller, a sophomore competing in the last match of the tournament, beat a nationally ranked opponent in Arizona State's 123rd-ranked Giulia Morlet, 7-6, 6-7, 6-2. Earlier in the day, Thiel, a freshman, defeated Auburn's Adeline Flach, 6-2, 6-3.
The Sun Devils' tournament ended the first half of the season for the Golden Bears, who open 2022 when they play at the Hawaii Invitational from Jan. 6-8 in Honolulu.
