Huskies Take Multiple Titles At Gonzaga

SEATTLE – The Huskies collected three bracket victories on the final day at the Gonzaga Invitational today in Spokane, as Yolanda Lin and Zoey Weil each won their singles draws, and Lin and Ashley Chang partnered for a doubles title. Competition also wrapped up down at the Jack Kramer Invite, where Vanessa Wong and Astrid Olsen took runner-up honors in doubles.
 
Gonzaga Invitational
 
Lin was a two-time winner today at the Stevens Center. In the Red Draw singles final, she outlasted Rimona Rouf of Portland, 6-7, 6-4, (10-8) to take that win. She and Ashley Chang also posted two-straight wins over the host Bulldogs in the semis and final of the Red doubles draw. They beat Wernli/Svarre of Gonzaga, 6-2, in the final.
 
Zoey Weil rolled to the win in the appropriately colored Purple Draw, without dropping a set. She was tested in the final, going to a second set tiebreak, but closed it out, 6-3, 7-6 (6) over Kianna Oda of Gonzaga.
 
Tara Chilton and Hikaru Sato also advanced to the doubles final of the Blue Draw with a 6-1 win in the semis today, but they dropped their final to another Gonzaga squad.
 
Jack Kramer Invitational
 
Down in Southern California, Vanessa Wong and Astrid Olsen finished up play at the Jack Kramer Club.
 
Wong, who earned the 100th singles win of her career on Saturday, was unable to get started on the next hundred today, as she lost her singles semifinal to top-seed Shiori Fukuda of Pepperdine, 6-1, 6-4.
 
Olsen and Wong were also in the doubles final, but ran into Fukuda and Broadus of Pepperdine as the Waves posted a 8-1 victory.
