Men’s Gymnastics Announces 2022 Schedule
BERKELEY – The California men's gymnastics team will compete in the Bay Area seven times – three times in Berkeley – during the 2022 season as the Golden Bears announced the 2022 schedule on Monday.
The first of the three home meets will be the season opener on Saturday, Jan. 15, vs. SoCal United at 7 p.m in the Cal Benefit Cup. Cal will also host Air Force on Sunday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. and Stanford on Saturday, March 12, at 2 p.m. for Senior Day.
The home meet against the Cardinal will be one of six meetings against Cal's Bay Area rival in 2022, including three regular-season trips to The Farm, the Pac-12 Open on Feb. 4 in Seattle and the MPSF Championships, which will be held at Stanford on April 2. The Bears and Cardinal will once again compete against Oklahoma and Air Force in the conference meet.
Besides the Pac-12 Open, the Bears will leave the state of California two other times, with both destinations set for Norman, Okla. Cal will meet Oklahoma in a dual meet in the final week of the regular season on March 19. Oklahoma will also host the NCAA Championships from April 15-16.
Cal is led by team captains Caleb Rickard, Yu-Chen Lee and Darren Wong. Rickard earned All-America honors on vault at last year's NCAA Championships, as well as rewriting the school record book in the event throughout the season. He currently owns the top three vault scores in program history. Also returning for the Bears is the reigning CGA Rookie of the Year Noah Newfeld.
