Ducks Sign Five-Star Prospect Jo-Yee Chan
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon head coach Courtney Nagle announced the addition of five-star prospect out of Georgia Jo-Yee Chan to the program as a part of the 2022 signing class on Wednesday.
A five-star prospect according to Tennis Recruiting Network, Chan is currently ranked No. 20 in the USTA Girls' 18 National Standings and is the second-ranked player in Georgia according to the Babolat rankings.
"We are really excited for Jo-Yee to join our Duck Family," said Nagle. "Joyeezy, as most people call her, is just getting started and with her passion for the game, desire to compete and commitment to developing her game, she is going to make a big impact at Oregon. We can't wait to get started."
Chan has enjoyed a highly decorated junior career and has won five national doubles titles in 2021. She's currently ranked fifth nationally in the USTA doubles rankings and first in both Georgia and the southern region. Chan also finished second at the USTA Doubles National Championship this past August.
"We have loved getting to know Jo-Yee as a player and a person and can't wait to support her through her college career," said associate head coach Elizabeth Lumpkin Robinson. "Her game has grown tremendously the last several months and our communication has been so natural from the beginning. She's always felt like part of the Duck Family and we are so excited to make it official today!"
In singles play, Chan has had a strong 2021 season on the junior circuit, advancing to the quarterfinals of the USTA Level 1 Sectional Invitational while taking home titles in both singles and doubles at the USTA Level 2 U18 championships. She also won the Level 3 U16 singles title in 2019 and finished third at the U18 Level 3 singles championships.
