Hewitt Signs with Oregon Softball

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon head coach Melyssa Lombardi signed Remmington Hewitt to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.
 
The Pleasant Grove, Calif., native is ranked 23rd overall in the class of 2022 by Extra Innings Softball and is that outlet's No. 16 infielder nationally.
 
Lombardi on Hewitt: "Remmington has an incredible softball IQ and brings such a competitive intensity to the game. She's versatile and can play just about every position. One of the things that makes her unique is that she can hit for power and average. She's has a tremendous work ethic and is the ultimate team player. Our staff is excited to see the impact Remmington will have on our program. We are thrilled to have her and her family officially become Ducks today."

Hewitt was named an Extra Inning Softball first team All-American in 2021 after batting .551 as a junior in 2021 with a 1.102 slugging percentage for East Nicolaus High School … She hit nine home runs, including one grand slam, with 16 doubles and 42 RBI as the Spartans went 23-2 and were the Sac-Valley Champions … Hewitt was named to the Sacramento Bee's all-Metro Team and received its small school player of the year award … During her 2020 COVID-19 shortened sophomore season, she hit .462 … A freshman, she earned CalHi Sports first team all-state underclass honors after hitting .401 with a .510 on-base percentage to help her team win the Division V State Championship (2019) … Team was Northern Section CIF Division champions 2019-21 and won the league title in 2019 and 2021 … Hewitt entered high school as the #61-ranked player in the nation (Extra innings Softball) and saw her stock rise from there … In addition to softball, played basketball and volleyball and ran track at East Nicholaus … Set multiple weight room records at East Nicolaus, including the deadlift record for her weight class by lifting more than twice her own weight … Tops in her class with a 4.22 grade point average … Off the field, Hewitt raises and shows championship cattle … She has been showing cattle since she was seven-years old and has been very active in 4-H and Future Farmers of America … In 2018, she raised the eventual Supreme Champion Market Steer at the Yuba-Sutter Fair … Four-time class president and ASP president as a senior … Club team is Sorcerer Gold Gabales.
