Bennett earns CoSIDA Academic All-Region Honors

KANSAS CITY - For the second-straight season super senior Elyse Bennett has been  to the 2021 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, this year earning first team distinction, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Bennett, who is pursuing her second degree at WSU, has posted a 3.85 GPA in five-years on the Palouse. She previously earned a degree in biology in three years before turning her focus to psychology. The super senior finished the regular season one of the top scorers in the Pac-12 netting a career-best 10 goals to lead the Cougs to one of their finest regular seasons in program history and another berth in the NCAA Tournament. She is a three Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll award winner as well as a 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Second Team honoree.

To be eligible for Scholar All-Region recognition, student-athletes must hold a 3.40 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout their career, start more than 50 percent of all games, significantly contribute to their team and be a junior or above in academic standing. Bennett is now eligible to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® team which will be voted on in the coming week.
