Davis Cup Player Commits to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah's men's tennis head coach Roeland Brateanu has announced the commitment of Berk Bugarikj. He is a four-time junior Macedonian national champion and represents Macedonia in the Davis Cup. 
 
"Utah tennis made a huge step forward with the addition of Berk," remarked head coach Roeland Brateanu. "We are excited for Berk to come and play for us. He is a diamond in the rough and he has a bright future in the Pac-12. We can't wait to get him on campus."
 
Bugarikj comes to Utah from Skopje, Macedonia where he was a junior national champion in every age category under 12, 14, 16, and 18. He ranked as high as 149th in the ITF junior rankings. He won one singles ITF (J5 Tirana 2020) and won one doubles ITF (J5 Skopje 2019) and reached two singles finals and six doubles finals.
 
This summer, he reached the round of 32 at the European Junior Championships in Switzerland. Furthermore, he qualitied for the main draw ITF M15 Futures in Antalya, Turkey.
 
"I chose the University of Utah because I believe that the program and its coaches can help me reach my dreams and goals of playing tennis at the next level," remarked Berk Bugarikj. "I'm convinced that it will bring me the success and happiness that I desire."
