High School Standouts Dillon Klein, Noah Roberts, Ryan Sprague Sign With USC Men's Volleyball

Three high school volleyball standouts—6-5 Dillon Klein of Loyola High in Los Angeles and 6-7 Noah Roberts of Los Alamitos (Calif.) High, both outside hitters, and 6-3 setter Ryan Sprague also of Loyola High—have signed with the USC men's volleyball program and will join the team in the fall of 2022, Trojan head coach Jeff Nygaard announced today (Nov. 11). 

Klein earned 2021 All-CIF Division 1 first team honors as a junior at Loyola, which was the California state runners-up.  He played for the Manhattan Beach Surf Volleyball Club, where he made the 2021 USA Volleyball Boys Junior Olympics U18 Open All-Tournament team.  He was on the 2020 U.S. Boys Youth National Training Team. 

His grandfather, Bob Klein, was a tight end at USC (1966-68, including on the 1967 national championship team) and then was a first round pick with the Los Angeles Rams, where he played 8 seasons (1969-76) and with the San Diego Chargers (1977-80).  His father, Jimmy, played football (1989-90) and volleyball (1990-93) at Stanford.  His aunt, Kristin Klein Keefe, was a 4-time (1988-91) All-American on the Stanford volleyball team, earning 1991 National Player of the Year honors, and then competed in the 1996 Olympics for the U.S.  His uncle, Adam Keefe, played basketball (1988-92, earning All-American honors in 1992 when he set the school's career rebounding record) and volleyball (1990-91) at Stanford and then was in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks (1992-94, drafted in the first round), Utah Jazz (1994-2000) and Golden State Warriors (2000-01).  His uncle, Patrick Klein, played volleyball at Stanford (1996-99).  His cousin, James Keefe, is a junior forward on the Stanford basketball team.  His cousins, Caitlin and Michaela Keefe, were on the Stanford volleyball team (2016-19), which won 3 NCAA championships (2016, 2018-19).  

Roberts was the 2021 All-Sunset League MVP at Los Alamitos.  He played for Team Rockstar Volleyball Club.  He participated in the 2021 USA Volleyball U 19 Indoor and Beach Training Series and 2020 USA Volleyball A2 High Performance Camp.  

Sprague made 2021 All-Mission League first team as a junior at Loyola, which was the California state runners-up.  He played for the Manhattan Beach Surf Volleyball Club.  He made the 2019 USA Volleyball Junior Olympics U15 Open All-Tournament team as MB Surf won the gold medal (his U14 team won the bronze at the 2018 Junior Olympics and his U12 team won the silver at the 2016 Junior Olympics).  He was selected for the 2021 USA Volleyball National Team Development Program, 2017 and 2020 USA Volleyball A1 High Performance Camp and 2019 USA Volleyball Indoor A1 High Performance Camp. He also plays beach volleyball, where he participated in the 2017, 2018 and 2019 USA Volleyball Beach A1 High Performance Camp. 

In its history, the USC men's volleyball program has captured 4 NCAA championships while appearing in 15 NCAA tourneys and has produced 21 Olympians, 34 All-Americans and 7 College Players of the Year.
