LOS ANGELES – UCLA sophomore defender Tommy Silva has been named to the 2021 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, as announced by CoSIDA on Thursday.

The 2021 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

Silva was one of just four backs, and 11 student-athletes overall, to be honored from District 8, which is comprised of California, Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Canada. All but two of the 11 recognized players hailed from the Pac-12 Conference.

An undeclared major, Silva has accrued a 4.0 cumulative GPA to this point in his UCLA career. On the field, Silva has recorded six goals and six assists for 18 points over 28 games. A left back who often joins the attack, and also sees time at the wing, Silva has produced four game-winning goals so far as a Bruin, including a team-high three GWGs this year.
