Week Two
• Oregon State heads east this weekend when the Beavers travel to Manheim, Penn., and Spooky Nook. Oregon State takes on Penn State at 4 p.m. PT (7 p.m. in Pennsylvania) on Saturday. That will be followed by the Journeymen Classic on Sunday.
• Oregon State is meeting Penn State for just the second time ever. The Nittany Lions won that meet, 20-16, in 1994.
• Penn State is opening its season Saturday. The Nittany Lions take on Sacred Heart prior to competing against the Beavers.
• The Beavers are 24-40-2 all-time against Big Ten Conference programs. OSU last competed against a Big Ten team on Jan. 5, 2020, defeating Michigan, 21-15.
• OSU then competes in the Journeymen/Defense Soap Collegiate Classic on Sunday in Manheim. The Beavers are one of 13 teams in the one-day competition.
Week One Recap
• Year two of the Chris Pendleton era as head coach got underway last Saturday when the Beavers split duals with Campbell - a 23-12 win - and Intermat No. 24 Lehigh, a 21-12 loss.
• Mateo Olmos and Grant Willits both went 2-0 to pace Oregon State. Brandon Kaylor started the Beavers' night with a pin in just 2:46 versus Campbell, while Gary Traub picked up a technical fall, 27-9, to end OSU's 23-12 win over Campbell.
• The Beavers' duals marked the first time fans were able to see OSU compete at Gill Coliseum in a regular-season meet in 623 days.
Olmos Takes Top Pac-12 Honor
• Mateo Olmos is the reigning Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week after going 2-0 in duals over Campbell and Lehigh Saturday. It's his first honor and the Beavers' seventh all-time since the Pac-12 began the awards in 2014.
Beaver Notes
• Brandon Kaylor, thanks to last Saturday's pin, has picked up bonus points in 19 of his 29 career wins. He is 10-10 in bouts decided by decision but 19-4 otherwise, including six pins.
• Gary Traub's 27 points against Campbell Saturday marked the most by a Beaver since Kaylor won via a 24-5 tech fall on Nov. 11, 2019 against George Mason.
