Men's Tennis Shines on Day One of LMU Invitational

LOS ANGELES – The men's tennis squad opened play in their final fall tournament of the season on Friday at the LMU Invitational. The Utes shined on day one as they went 7-2 on the day.
 
The Utes opened the day, picking up two wins in doubles action against UC Irvine. Francisco Bastias and Bruno Caula won 6-4 over Riccardo Roberto Noah. The second win came for Utah when Geronimo Busleiman and Bruno Krenn defeated Matthew Sah and Thomas Smart, 6-4.
 
The wins continued in singles action as Utah won five of six singles matches against LMU. Bastias defeated Rana-Roop Bhullar 6-2, 7-6 (4) in singles play. Also picking up wins for Utah was Caula and Busleiman. Caula defeated Manael De Alencar 6-3, 6-0, while Buseliman defeated Emin Torlic 6-3, 6-2.
 
The final two wins in single wins came by Jayson Blando and Rian Ta. Blando came away with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Austin Di Giulio. Ta knocked off Lincoln Bellamy, 6-4, 6-1, for the Utes' fifth singles win of the day.
 
Utah will return to the courts tomorrow for day two of the LMU Invitational. Play starts at 1 p.m. MT tomorrow from the LMU Tennis Center.
