SEATTLE -- Washington Head Coach Matt Anger today announced the signing of a new Husky, Tristan Messerli, who will join the program for the 2022-23 season. Messerli is a native of Rolling Hills Estates, California.
The first new addition for the 2022-23 class, Messerli attends the same Palos Verdes High School that has produced recent Huskies Jake Douglas and Jeff Hawke.
Messerli is a four-start recruit ranked No. 88 nationally by TennisRecruiting.net. He has a current UTR of 11.52 which would rank seventh among Husky returners.
"I am thrilled that we are adding Tristan to our team next year," said Coach Anger. "He has been a top 50 player and appears to be healthy again to show that, but more importantly, he has the desire to work to be among the best."
Tennis runs strong in the family, as Messerli's mother is Kimberly Po a former professional player ranked as high as 14th in the world in singles and 6th in the world in doubles on the WTA Tour. His father, Olivier, competed collegiately for Louisville and coaches men's professional player Jason Jung on the ATP Tour.
Says Messerli, "I can't wait to be at such a beautiful university and in the UW's comeptitve tennis environment."
