TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Soccer senior forward Nicole Douglas was one 13 players named to the All-Pac-12 First Team, according to an announcement by the league office on Friday.
In 2021, Douglas set the single-season school records for goals (19) and points (45) and finished the regular season as the nation's leader in both categories in addition to goals per game (0.95) and points per game (2.25). Within Pac-12-only games, Douglas was also the undisputed leader in every category with 10 goals (0.91 per game) and 23 points (2.09 per game). Douglas either scored or assisted on a goal in all but five games this season. She became the school's new single-season record holder in both goals and points after finding the back of the net and adding a pair of assists in ASU's 4-1 win over Utah on Oct. 31. She added one more goal in ASU's season finale last week.
"I'm extremely proud of Dougie for earning a spot on the All-Pac-12 first team," ASU head coach Graham Winkworth said of Douglas. "I'm a little sad for one or two others [on our squad] who I felt were deserving of a little more recognition than the voting gave them.
"All credit to everyone who made those teams because it is incredibly difficult and credit to all the Pac-12 players of the year. Nicole Douglas will be my Pac-12 and national player of the year. She is a credit to this program and I could not be prouder to say I'm her coach."
Currently with 46 career goals and 109 career points, Douglas, who intends on returning for a fifth season, stands in position to become the school's career leader in both categories in 2022 as she trails only ASU Hall of Famer Stacey Tullock (50 career goals, 125 career points) in both categories).
