Charlton and Klöv-Nilsson Take Doubles Title at Duck Invite

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon men's tennis doubles team of Joshua Charlton and Jesper Klöv-Nilsson won the double's title at the Duck Invite on Sunday.
 
How it Happened: The team defeated Neos and Yoshida from the University of Portland in a hard-fought match, winning 8-7(4). After carrying a slight advantage throughout the match, Portland knotted things up at seven-all, before the Ducks came out victorious in a 7-4 tiebreak.
 
They advanced to the final after a run of victories over Portland opponents on Saturday, defeating Brown and Hibi 8-4, and Penzlin and Tvedt 8-6.
 
Charlton also took home the singles Green Draw title for UO, after defeating teammate Klöv-Nilsson in a three-set battle. Klöv-Nilsson took the first set after a 9-7 tiebreak, before Charlton bounced back with a pair of 6-4 sets to take home the trophy.
 
The Ducks each advanced to the finals with wins over Washington players on Saturday. Klöv-Nilsson cruised to a straight-set 6-3, 6-1 win over Rikuto Yamaguchi, while his doubles teammate Charlton battled to a 6-1, 7-5 win over Nedim Suko, setting up an all-Ducks Green Draw final.
