Men’s Tennis Closes Out LMU Invite

LOS ANGELES – The Utes wrapped up the final day of play for the fall season at the LMU Invitational this afternoon. The Utah squad faced Utah State for singles, and finished off the tournament against host team LMU with doubles play.

During the single matches, the Utes won half of their matches, beginning with Francisco Bastias as he downed David Cierny 6-2, 7-5. Bruno Caula also defeated the USU opposition 6-2, 6-3 on court two. On court three, Geronimo Busleiman took the upper hand against Felipe Acosta for final score 6-4, 6-1.

On court four, Jayson Blando had a close match but ultimately fell short to his opponent for score, 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-2. Rian Ta faced USU's Sergi Mico Fenollar on court five, but dropped his match 6-1, 6-3. Lastly, on court six the Utes fell once more when Charlie Spina lost a long match against Jack Ninteman, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.

Following singles play, the Utes moved into doubles against LMU to finish off the day. On court one, Bastias/Caula faced Daniel Moreno/Jose Dominguez Alonso, and defeated the LMU duo 6-3. On court two, Utes Busleiman/J. Blando fell short to their opponents for final score 6-2. Similarly on court three, the LMU duo took the upper hand against Utah's Ta/Spina 6-1.

The Utes will head back home to prepare for the upcoming spring season, which will be filled with exciting matches against skilled opponents. Check back to for the fall schedule.
