Cyr Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week

Nov 15, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO -- Sun Devil Volleyball's Geli Cyr was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on Monday after earning double digits in kills and career highs in digs and blocks over the weekend.

This is Arizona State's first freshman of the week nod this season. Last season, ASU had two, both for Marta Levinska. It is the second weekly award for the Sun Devils after Iman Isanovic was the offensive player of the week in October.

Cyr had a strong weekend for Arizona State, notching double figures in kills against Colorado and No. 16 Utah with 12 and 10, respectively. She helped the Sun Devils to a 3-1 win against the Buffs to complete the season sweep over them for the first time since 2011. She reached a career-high 17 digs to go with her 12 kills for a double-double. Against the Utes, she had a team-high four total blocks, a new personal best for her.

Arizona State will travel to Los Angeles next weekend, facing No. 13 UCLA on Friday at 7:00 p.m. MST before taking on USC on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. MST. Friday's match can be viewed on the Pac-12 Network and Sunday's match can be viewed on the USC live stream.
