Nov 18, 2021

AUSTIN, Texas- The University of Utah men's and women's diving team opened up action at the Texas Diving Invitational on Thursday collecting three top-20 finishes against a loaded field.

"Being that this was our first competitive meet with our entire dive lists in place, I thought we did pretty well," head coach Richard Marschner said. "It took us a little bit to settle down and I know we're all capable of doing better but this competition is to prepare us for later on in the season at Pac-12's, zones and NCAA's."

Marschner continued, "We're learning how to compete in this type of a meet and it's going to be very beneficial to us down the line."

Senior Tony Chen lead the Utes finishing 15th in the 1m dive, earning a score of 302.85. NCAA All-American, Luke McDivitt, placed right behind his teammate in 16th with a score of 298.05.

Freshman Ben Smyth and junior Jenner Pennock also competed in the 1m for the Utes scoring 259.60 and 257.45, respectively.
