LOS ANGELES – No. 13 UCLA avenged its loss to Arizona State earlier this season with a straight-set, 3-0 victory over the Sun Devils Friday evening to remain unbeaten at home in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.

Four service errors and two long Sun Devil rally points helped put the Bruins (21-4, 14-3 Pac-12) in a five-point hole in the first set, trailing Arizona State (14-14, 7-10 Pac-12), 19-14. Outside hitter Allison Jacobs notched back-to-back kills and dealt a service ace to knot the set, 20-20, to score three points and kickstart what turned out to be a decisive UCLA 9-1 run to take the opening set victory. The Bruins would not look back, never trailing by more than a point for the remainder of the match.

With score tied 14-14 in the second set, setter Shelby Martin turned to Jacobs and middle blocker Anna Dodson to put the frame away, connecting for four of the Bruins' final nine points for kills. Jacobs closed the set with back-to-back service aces to put her new career high ace total at three. Jacobs finished the match with nine kills on 21 swings, seven digs and two blocks for a total of 13.5 points.

Dodson achieved double-digit kills for the fourth time in UCLA's last five matches with 10 kills and one error on just 15 swings (.600 hitting percentage) to go along with four total blocks.

Martin tallied 37 assists (12.33 assists per set) and scored four points by the way of two blocks, two kills and a service ace. Martin's second kill of the night occurred early in the third set, and with the score tied two points apiece, she freelanced a swing to put the ball right between two Sun Devil back row defenders.

The Bruins held a one-point lead at 20-19 when they strung together a 5-0 run with all five points coming by the way of kills with Jacobs opening the scoring on a laser beam that ricocheted off a Sun Devil, outside hitter élan McCall going back-to-back-to-back and Dodson ending it with a match point for UCLA's eight consecutive home win and sixth sweep inside Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom. Across all of UCLA's indoor sports, the Bruins boast a 14-0 record in Pauley Pavilion.

Outside hitter Mac May led the Bruins with 16 kills at a .278 hitting percentage in a double-double performance including 11 digs. Libero Zoe Fleck recorded a match-high 15 digs.
