Pregame: 

  • The Colorado Buffaloes (3-7, 2-5 Pac 12) will host the Washington Huskies (4-6, 3-4 Pac 12) for their final home game of the 2021 season.
  • Colorado is coming off a rough 44-20 loss at the Rose Bowl last week against UCLA where it had a promising 20-10 lead at halftime. Washington is coming off a thrilling 35-30 loss to Arizona State last weekend.
  • Colorado beat Washington in the last meeting between the two teams on November 23, 2019 at Folsom Field by a score of 20-14.
  • Freshman QB Brendon Leis has been improving all season and has especially been good in the last two games for the Buffs where his completion percentage has jumped from 54.8% in the first seven games to 68.7% in the last three games. 
  • Seven of Lewis' 10 touchdown passes this season have been completed to freshmen, three to Brenden Rice, two to Montana Lemonious Craig and and one each to Chase Penry and Ty Robinson.
  • One thing the Buffs have done exceptionally well well has been taking care of the football. The Buffs have just seven turnovers in 10 games- the third fewest in the nation- and have had a CU record five games without a turnover in 2021, including two of the last three games. 
  • Sophomore running back Jarek Broussard has had back-to-back games with 100+ yards on the ground. 
  • Freshman WR Rice has made several long plays in the early part of his career. This season he leads the Buffs in all purpose yards with 822 and has 469 kickoff return yards, 299 receiving yards and 54 rushing yards.

Weather: The weather in Boulder is 55 degrees and cloudy with a little bit of wind.
Captains: Six weeks ago the team decided to vote CB Mekhi Blackmon, LB Nate Landman, QB Brendon Lewis and TE Brady Russell captains for the remainder of the season. This game marks the sixth straight for this group and seventh straight for Blackmon and Landman. 
Uniforms: The Buffs will wear their black jerseys with gold helmets and pants.
Coin Toss: Washington wins the toss and has deferred to the second half. Colorado will receive the opening kickoff and defend the north end zone.

END OF GAME: Colorado wins one that came down to the wire 20-17 in its final game for its fans at Folsom Field in 2021 and improve to 4-7 overall and 3-5 in Pac 12 play this season. The Buffs will have their last game this season next Friday at Utah.
4Q: WASHINGTON TURNOVER ON DOWNS: The Huskies fail to convert on 4th down as Carson Wells came through with a quarterback hurry, his second of the game on the last play. 1st and 10 Buffs at their own 24. 1:13 left in the fourth quarter with the Buffs leading 20-17.

4Q: COLORADO TOUCHDOWN: Lewis runs out right and dives into the right corner of the end zone for a touchdown, the second rushing touchdown of hte season by the quarterback. 4Q: COLORADO INTERCEPTION: Nikko Reed, first career interception in the end zone, Colorado's fourth turnover of the game. After an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty it's 1st down Buffs from their own 10.

Colorado currently has the ball at Washington's 6-yardline however, their best field position and chance for their offense to score that they have had in the second half.

HALFTIME: Game tied 10-10. Colorado jumped out ot an early 10-0 lead in the 1st quarter but Washington tied it in the second quarter. Colorado's offense got it going early and will look to get that back as they finished the half with 87 total yards of offense versus 214 for Washington. Each team has 30 rush yards. LB Quinn Perry leads the Buffs' defense with seven tackles including a tackle for a loss while LB Carson Wells has two sacks on the day, three tackles for a loss.
