Kiki De Bruijne Earned All-Region Honors On Monday

BERKELEY - California field hockey forward Kiki de Bruijne was tabbed a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-West Region Second Team selection on Monday, as announced by the organization.

Division I teams are separated into five regions: Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Northeast, South and West with each region honoring 16 student-athletes on the first team and up to 16 student-athletes on the second team.

A sophomore, this is de Bruijne's first NFHCA regional honor, but the native of The Netherlands is no stranger to awards. De Bruijne was tabbed to the America East Conference First Team for the second time in her career earlier this fall after being named the America East Conference Rookie of the Year in the spring of 2021.

During the fall campaign, de Bruijne scored her first goal of the season in Cal's 2-0 win vs. Stanford on October 22 and her second at Monmouth on October 29. She tied for the team lead in assists with four. De Bruijne was a staple for the Bears all season long in the backfield as well as on the offensive attack.

De Bruijne's honor is Cal's second NFHCA recognition this fall after Brynn Zorilla was recently named to the NFHCA Senior Team on Nov. 15.
