EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon forward Nyara Sabally earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors for her dominant effort on Saturday against Oklahoma in the opening round of the Battle 4 Atlantis.
Sabally scored a career-high 30 points while grabbing 11 rebounds on 11-of-19 shooting from the field to lead the Ducks to a 98-93 comeback victory over the Sooners in The Bahamas. She put up 20 of her 30 pionts after halftime, including 10 in the final five minutes of the game.
The junior set career-highs in made field goals and made free throws (7), while matching a career-high with four assists. Sabally became the first UO player since Sabrina Ionescu on March 7, 2020 to score 30 points in a game while she was the first Duck to turn in a 30-point, 10-rebound performance since Ruthy Hebard on Feb. 14, 2020 vs. UCLA.
The Berlin, Germany native earned a number of preseason honors heading into the year, being named to the watch lists for the Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy and Wade Trophy – all of which recognize the national player of the year. Sabally also earned preseason All-Pac-12 honors in addition to being selected to the Katrina McClain Award watch list, which honors the nation's top power forward.
