Seven Sign for Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford brings in an impressive class of seven swimmers and divers who are set to join the team for the 2022-23 season. The class features Andres Dupont (Cancun, Mexico), Henry Morrissey (Philadelphia), Josh Zuchowski (Jupiter, Fla.), Liam Custer (Sarasota, Fla.), Peyton Donald (Spring, Texas), Rafael Gu (Shanghai, China), and Zhier Fan (Plano, Texas).

"We are thrilled to be welcoming these young men into our Stanford Swimming and Diving family," said The Goldman Family Director of Men's Swimming, Dan Schemmel. "This is a fun group full of character, talent, and grit, with each one hungry to do their part to elevate the program."

The class has a combined 27 event records at the high school, conference, and state levels, 17 state champions, and five MVP awards.

"They embody the meaning of what it means to be an elite student-athlete and have tremendous appreciation for what the Stanford experience offers," added Schemmel. "We can't wait to have them on campus with us!"
 

Andres Dupont, Cancun, Mexico - The Bolles School

Quick Profile: Swims the 50, 100, and 200 meter free for The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Fla. … Team district and state champions in 2020 and 2021 and national runners-up in 2020 and 2021 … Took first place at the FHSAA state championship in consecutive years (2020-21 and 2021-22) in the 200 free, 100 free, 400 free relay, and 200 free relay … Holds The Bolles School high school record in the 200 free (1:35.60).

National Team: Competed at the UANA Tokyo Qualifier in four events, missing the cut to represent Mexico in the Tokyo Olympics in the 100 free by 0.1 seconds … Three-time champion at the Far Western LCM Championships, and four-time finalist at the CCCAN Championships … Competing at the Junior Panamerican Games in November, 2021.

Personal: Parents are Walter Dupont Kritzler and Ivette Cabrera Jaimes … has a younger sister, Paulina … Is interested in studying economics … Hobbies include wakeboarding, spearfishing, kitesurfing, fishing, hunting, and hiking.
 

Henrey Morrissey - Philadelphia - Germantown Academy


Quick Profile: Two-season captain for Germantown Academy in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania … Competed in freestyle and helped his team to a seventh place finish in the Eastern Interscholastic championships in 2019 and a sixth place finish in 2020 while taking first in the 500 free … Named All-American for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons … Earned Best Combined in Achievement and Sportsmanship (2019) and Best Combined Academic Excellence and Involvement in the Aquatics Program (2020 and 2021).

Club Swimming: Also competed for Germantown Academy Aquatic Club … finished seventh at the 2021 NCSA Summer Swimming Championships … Earned USA Swimming Silver Medal Club Award (2019, 2020, 2021) … Named USA Swimming Scholastic All-American (2019, 2020, 2021).

Personal: Parents are Jim and Hope Morrissey … Has three sisters, Maggie, Kitty, and Annie … Father Jim played tennis at Siena College … Sister Kitty played lacrosse at Duke University … Hobbies include hiking, biking, water skiing, crossword puzzles, weather watching, and house projects.
 

Josh Zuchowski - Jupiter, Fla. - The King's Academy


Quick Profile: Captain for The King's Academy and competed in back and IM …Team finished second in state in 2020 and 2021 … won the FHSAA Class 1A 200 medley relay … Seven-time individual FHSAA state champion … Owns the state of Florida's 200 IM record ...Was named Sun Sentinel Swimmer of the Year four years in a row (2018-21) … Named first team All-County five years in a row (2017-21) … Named first team All-State four years in a row (2018-21) … Three-time Palm Beach County Swimmer of the year (2019-21) … Named Florida's Mr. Swimming in 2019 … 2020 FHSAA Class 1A Swimmer of the year. 

Club Swimming: Also swam for Flood Aquatics Swim Team … Named Bronze Medal Club three times (2019-21) … NCSA champion in 100 and 200 back in 2020 … 11-time National age group record holder.

National Team: Qualified for the Olympic trials in 2019 at age 14… Member of the 2021 United States National Junior Team.

Personal: Parents are Jonathan and Lidsay Zuchowski … Has a younger sibling, Marin … Is interested in studying economics and investment banking … Hobbies include sports card collecting, video games, movies, sports, and escape rooms.
 

Liam Custer - Sarasota, Fla. - Pine View School

Peyton Donald - Spring, Texas - Grand Oaks High School


Quick Profile: Captain of the diving team at Grand Oaks High School for the 2021-22 season … Competed in the state meet in both 2019-20 and 2020-21 … Earned second place at the 2019-20 state meet … Two-time All-District, two-time All-State, two-time All-American and two-time High Point Scorer (2019-20 and 2020-21) … Named team MVP during the 2019-20 season … Holds the Grand Oaks High School record for 11 dives and six dives.

Club Diving: Competed for the Woodlands Diving Academy (2018-22) … Men's team took second place at the USA Diving Junior Nationals in 2018 while the whole team earned fourth … Overall team finished fifth in 2019 and second in 2021 at the USA Diving Junior Nationals.

National Team:  Earned first place on the 1-meter at Marc Lepoole Dive Meet in B.C. Canada while a member of the 2018 national team … Also named to the 2019 and 2021 National Teams.

Rafael Gu - Shanghai, China - Shanghai American School Puxi Campus


Quick Profile: Competes for Shanghai American School Puxi Campus in Shanghai … Helped team to a third place finish at the APAC championships in 2019 … Owns the APAC records in the 50, 100, and 200 free and 100 back (2019) … Named the Varsity MVP (2020) … Holds the high school records for 50 and 100 fly, 50 and 100 back, 50, 100 and 200 free, 100 200 and 400 IM.

Zhier Fan - Plano, Texas - Plano Senior High School


Quick Profile: Competed for the Metroplex Aquatics Club from 2010-2021 … Two-time Scholastic All-American (2019-20 and 2020-21) … Junior National team member (2021-22).

National Team: Competed at the FINA World Cup in Berlin and Budapest in 2021, earning fourth in both 100 and 200 breast … Placed second in the mixed 200 medley relay, setting a junior world record … Earned fourth in the 100 breast and third in the 200 breast in Budapest … Also placed first in the mixed 200 medley relay.
