NORMAN, Okla. -- In the latest Arnold Palmer Cup rankings, Washington senior RJ Manke is the No. 1 rated player for the Men's United States Team.
Manke is currently the No. 1 ranked player by Golfstat.com and is No. 6 in the PGA Tour University standings.
The top six golfrers from the final ranking in the spring from both the United States and International men and women shall be among the individuals selected to compete in the Palmer Cup, which wil be hosted by Golf Club de Geneve July 1-3, 2022. The remaining players shall be selected by using five committee picks and one coach's pick. One of the committee selections must be a non-Division I golfer. The coach's pick will be the final selections on the team and designated as such when announced.
The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Fla., in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men's and women's university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of International players. The Palmer Cup has been played at some of the world's greatest courses including The Old Course, The Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Baltusrol, The Honors Course, and Cherry Hills. Beginning with the 2018 matches at Evian Resort Golf Club, the Arnold Palmer Cup is the only major tournament which features men and women playing side-by-side as partners.
Former Huskies that have competed in the Palmer Cup include Brock Mackenzie (2002), Chris Williams (2011 and 2012) and Wenyung Keh (2018) from the women's team.
