BERKELEY – The Cal women's basketball team saw its winning streak come to an end in the championship game of the Raising the B.A.R. Invitational powered by Cal on Saturday evening. The Bears fell to visiting Ole Miss 64-45 in a contest in which neither team shot particularly well.

Cal (5-1) finished the night shooting a season-low 23.2 percent from the field going 13-for-56. From beyond the arc the Bears just couldn't find their touch, going 2-for-18. At one point, Cal missed 12-straight attempts from beyond the arc.
Ole Miss (6-1) eventually put the game away late, however, long scoring droughts of their own allowed the Bears to hang around. The Rebels finished the game shooting 34.3 percent from the field going 24-for-70. Ole Miss got a bunch of its scoring inside the key, finishing with 28 points in the paint.

Four players finished in double figures for Ole Miss, leading the team was Tournament MVP Skakira Austin who had 14 points and 10 rebounds. She was one of two Rebel players to finish with a double-double, the other was Madison Scott who had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Lashonda Monk had 12 and Snudda Collins had 10.

The Bears were led by freshman Jayda Curry's 12 points, Cailyn Crocker was the only other Golden Bear in double figures, she finished with 10 points thanks to a solid night at the free throw line. Curry was also named to the All-Tournament team, she averaged 19.0 points over the two contests.

On the glass, the Bears were edged 48-43. Ole Miss had 17 offensive boards that led to 16 second chance points. Cal could only muster six points off second chance opportunities.

With 6:24 in the second quarter the Bears went on a 5-0 run thanks to a transition layup from Evelien Lutje Schipholt and a traditional 3-point play by Curry. The run cut the Bears deficit to two, 16-14. But that was as close as they would get.

Ole Miss closed out the half on a 13-3 run capped off by a 3-point field goal from Collins. They went into the locker leading 29-17. Out of the intermission, a 10-0 run in the third quarter by the Rebels put the game almost out of reach.
