SAN FRANCISCO – Cal women's basketball freshman guard Jayda Curry has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the third consecutive week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Curry becomes just the fifth player since the award was created in 2012-13 to win it three consecutive weeks.

Curry joins Washington State's Charlisse Leger-Walker (2020-21), former Golden Bear Kristine Anigwe (2015-16), Oregon's Maite Cazorla (2015-16), and Washington's Kelsey Plum (2013-14) as the other players who have won the award three-consecutive weeks.

The Corona, Calif., native led the Bears to their fifth straight win and an appearance in the Raising the B.A.R. Invitational powered by Cal Championship. For the week, Curry averaged 19.0 points per game, while shooting 38.2 percent from the field. She also averaged 4.5 rebounds per game.

In the win over Furman, Curry led all scorers with 26 points. She was sensational in the second half –after missing most of the first half due to foul trouble, she scored 20 of her 26 points after the intermission including the final six points in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

On Saturday, Curry once again led the Bears in scoring, finishing with 12 points against Ole Miss. She also grabbed six rebounds en route to being named to the Raising the B.A.R. Invitational All-Tournament Team.

The 5-1 Golden Bears return to action on Thursday when they host Fresno State in the annual School Haas Rock contest. The Bears and Bulldogs will tip off at 11:30 a.m. PT. Thursday's contest will be streamed on the Cal Live Stream, fans can also follow along via live stats which can be accessed at Statbroadcast.com.
