BOULDER – University of Colorado's K.J. Simpson has been named the Pac-12 Conference Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week, for games played Nov. 22-28, the league office announced on Monday.

Simpson is Colorado's second Freshman of the Week for an award just beginning its third year in existence. Jabari Walker earned the initial Buffaloes honor, on Jan. 18, 2021.

A 6-foot-2, 177-pound guard from West Hills, Calif., Simpson averaged 9.5 points and 3.0 assists while shooting 55 percent off the bench in Colorado's two wins last week. He scored a career-high 12 points, hitting 5 of 8 from the field in the Buffaloes' conference opener against Stanford on Nov. 28. Simpson had seven points, including a perfect 5 of 5 from the free throw line, and four assists against Brown on Nov. 22, in the Paradise Jam finale in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Colorado, 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the Pac-12, continues conference action on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at No. 5 ranked UCLA (7:30 p.m. MT, Pac-12 Network, KOA 850 AM & 94.1 FM).
