Beavers Set to Clash with Clemson in Elite Eight Matchup

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The top-ranked Oregon State men's soccer team continues its NCAA Tournament journey with an Elite Eight matchup against No. 8 Clemson on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Lorenz Field. Live stats will be available and the match will be broadcasted on Pac-12 Oregon. For the third time this tournament, the Beavers mark their first encounter with their opponent. 
 
The match is sold out. However, if the participating institutions do not use their full allotment of tickets required to be held by the NCAA, they will be released for online sales only 2.5 hours prior to the match. No ticket sales will occur at Lorenz Field. 
 
Last Time Out 
No. 1 seed Oregon State shutout No. 16 seed New Hampshire, 1-0, on Nov. 28 at Lorenz Field in its first appearance in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament. Sophomore Mouhameth Thiam scored in the ninth minute of play, connecting with a long pass from redshirt senior Tsiki Ntsabeleng and facing the goalkeeper one on one before firing off a shot from his left foot. Thiam's goal is his third within the last three matches. The Beavers' defense held UNH to three shots on goal out of 11 shots total and junior Adrian Fernandez earned three saves to mark his second consecutive shutout of the tournament. 
 
Scouting Clemson
Clemson (15-5-0, 5-3-0 ACC) marked nine shutouts during the regular season, including a six-match shutout streak from Aug. 29 to Sept. 17. In the ACC Tournament, No. 2 seed Clemson defeated No. 7 seed North Carolina, 2-1 in the quarterfinal (Nov. 7) before falling, 1-0, to third seed Duke in the semifinal (Nov. 10).
 
The Tigers started their NCAA Tournament run on Nov. 21 in Clemson, S.C., edging past Denver, 1-0, to advance to the third round. On Nov. 28, Clemson hosted ninth seeded Kentucky, caging the Wildcats, 2-1, to earn their spot in the quarterfinals. 
 
Junior Isaiah Reid is the Tigers' top scorer, tallying seven goals this fall. Reid is also tied with senior Luis Felipe Fernandez-Salvador in the points category with 17 each. Leading the team for assists is sophomore Ousmane Sylla with six. In goal, senior George Marks has started all 20 games he's played in this season, clocking 1776 minutes between the pipes. Marks has made  61 saves and allowed 17 goals. Clemson has scored 47 goals compared to 17 scored by opponents. 
 
The Tigers went 14-3-3 (7-3-2 ACC)  in the spring.
