Four Cougs Set to Compete at the 2021 Junior Pan American Games

CALI, Colombia – A quartet of Washington State track and field members are set to compete at this week's 2021 Junior Pan American Games in Colombia. Micaela De Mello, Carolina Ulloa-Daza, Ronald Grueso-Mosquero and Valentina Barrios-Bornacelli will each be representing their countries and the Cougs at the Junior Pan Am Games.

The 2021 Junior Pan American Games will run from Nov. 25-Dec. 5 in the cities of Cali and Valle, Colombia.

Ulloa-Daza, who set WSU's freshman record in the hammer last season with 59.97m throw at the Fresno State West Coast Relays, will represent her home country of Colombia in the hammer throw on Dec. 4. Last season, Ulloa-Daza finished eighth in the Pac-12 in the hammer, as the then-freshman tossed 58.65m at the 2021 Pac-12 Outdoor Championships.

De Mello, who redshirted last season at Washington State, will be competing in the 100-meter hurdles for Brazil on Dec. 2.

Grueso-Mosquero, who is an incoming freshman for the Cougars, will participate in two events at the 2021 Junior Pan America Games. The Colombia native will compete in the shot put on Dec. 1, before participating in the discus on Dec. 4.

Barrios-Bornacelli, who is also an incoming freshman for WSU, will represent Colombia in the javelin on Dec. 3.
