Lloyd Selected To ESPN All-America Team
SALT LAKE CITY – Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd's third All-America honor of the postseason rolled in today after being named to the 2021 ESPN All-America team, giving him five-career All-America distinctions since stepping foot in Salt Lake City.
Lloyd has also been named to the Reese's Senior Bowl and CBS Sports All-America teams this season after earning Sporting News and Phil Steele in 2020. The 2021 Pac-12 Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year earned his second-straight All-Pac-12 first-team selection this past week after leading the team with 106 total tackles (22.0 TFL, 8.0 sacks), four interceptions and six pass breakups.
Lloyd ranks second in the FBS in tackles for loss (22.0) and is tied for second in the Pac-12 in total tackles (106). He has had at least 1.0 tackle for loss in 10 of Utah's 13 games this season.
The Reese's Senior Bowl invitee has also had seven or more tackles in 10 of Utah's 13 games in 2021, including starting the season with three straight double-digit games. His 8.0 sacks leads all Pac-12 linebackers and is the most by a linebacker at Utah since 2016.
Lloyd is tied for the lead among linebackers in the FBS in total interceptions (4) and is one of just two linebackers in the country that have scored multiple pick-sixes. One of his pick-sixes came against Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game, complimenting his seven tackles to earn MVP of the game.
He graded out at 93.3 by PFF in the Pac-12 Championship, the highest by any linebacker in a game this season.
Lloyd and the Utes return to action on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 when they take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl. The game will kick off at 2 p.m. PT/3 p.m. MT and will air on ESPN.
