Bennett takes home Academic All-America honors

KANSAS CITY - Continuing to add to her collection of awards in 2021, fifth-year senior Elyse Bennett was named a Third Team Academic All-American as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Bennett is just the third Coug all-time to earn academic all-america honors joining Rachael Doyle (2013) and Lindsey Jorgensen (2000, 2001).

Bennett, who finished her second degree at WSU in psychology, posted a 3.85 GPA in five-years on the Palouse. She previously earned a degree in biology in three years before turning her focus to psychology. On the field, Bennett became just the third Coug in program history to earn all-america honors after taking home second team honors earlier in the month. She finished her season with a career-best 10 goals while adding four assists for a team high 24 points. For her career, Bennett notched 26 goals and 12 assists. Upon the completion of her career, Bennett ranked sixth all-time in goals scored and in points with 64. Additionally, she is one of only two Cougs to appear in over 90 contests throughout her career, playing in 93 games, the second most all-time.
